PSV Eindhoven have confirmed Xavi Simons has left their training camp to close in on a return to Paris Saint-Germain.
The French giants have triggered the €6 million buy-back clause in his PSV Eindhoven contract.
A statement from PSV, who came second in the 2022/23 Eredivisie, reads: “Xavi Simons immediately leaves the training camp to complete the transfer with Paris Saint Germain. The twenty-year-old attacker came to PSV last year and became an important player in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team.”
According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG have two options on the table: if Neymar or Mbappe leave, Simons will stay at the club this season. Otherwise, he will be loaned out for a year.
According to reports from the Dutch press, Xavi Simons already has an agreement with RB Leipzig for a loan move. He would replace Christopher Nkunku, according to ED Nieuws.
The 20 year old was one of the top performers in the Dutch Eredivisie last season, scoring 22 goals and assisting a further 12 in 48 appearances for PSV Eindhoven.
