Joao Mendes de Assis Moreira, the son of Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, made his debut for Barcelona
Barcelona confirmed the signing of Ronaldinho’s son, Joao Mendes on March 2, 2023 with the player officially linking up with their Under 19’s team. Reports suggest that his initial contract runs until the summer of 2024.
The news of Mendes joining Barcelona was broken by his father, during an interview with Spanish radio station RAC1, following a trial at the club in January.
“He is coming now. Barcelona is part of life. Wherever I go I take Barcelona with me. With the arrival of my son at Barca I’ll be more present than ever,” he told RAC1.
Just over four weeks later after signing for Barcelona, Mendes has lined up for the Juvenil B team for the first time at the MIC tournament being held across Catalonia. The player is at his fourth side, after being in the PSG, Cruzeiro and Flamengo acadamies.
Mendes made his debut for the Blaugrana side wearing the number ‘7’ shirt and helped Barca’s U19 team secure a 3-0 win.
