Roma boss Jose Mourinho brutally responded to pundit Antonio Cassano after playing style criticism
For the past year, Antonio Cassano has been highly critical of Mourinho’s work at AS Roma, consistently criticizing Mourinho’s playing style. After the recent rumours of Mourinho being linked with a return to Real Madrid, Cassano insisted that Real Madrid would not want to bring Mourinho back.
He said: “If Real Madrid wants a coach, they will not call Mourinho for his new project.
“Mou doesn’t give a s*** about football. He doesn’t even like to work, he doesn’t know how to communicate or speak, let’s not be fooled by his story.”
In response, Mourinho hit back at the former Italy international and pointed out that, as a player, Cassano failed to win a major trophy at top clubs like Real Madrid, Inter and Roma, while he himself has won with each of those clubs as a manager.
During the post-match press conference following Roma’s win over Torino on Saturday, Mourinho addressed Cassano’s words.
“Everyone is free to have their preferences and to make criticisms. But when it comes to others, like Antonio, they are different: he’s busy having fun while the others work.”
“If they criticize Roma or Mourinho, I don’t care because they’re just having fun. Cassano played for Roma, Inter and Real.”
“In Madrid he is remembered for his jacket, with Roma he won a Supercoppa without playing, and for Inter he didn’t even win the Sunday league trophy.”
“You know what I won with Inter, Real Madrid and Roma. He will have a problem with me, I will not have a problem with him.”
