Kylian Mbappe has criticised Paris Saint-Germain for not gaining his permission to use an interview as a promotion of season ticket sales, and not informing him how it would be used.
Mbappe has informed the fans in social media that the interview was framed as a “basic interview at a club marketing day” and that he was not informed about what it would be used for.
“I’ve just taken part in the season ticketing campaign of the club for 2023-24,” Mbappe wrote on Instagram story.
“At no moment was I informed of the content of the interview… It looked like a basic interview at a club marketing day.
“I do not agree with the video that was published. This is why I am fighting for individual image rights. PSG is a great club and a great family, but it is certainly not Kylian Saint-Germain.”
Mbappe has previously raised concerns and taken action over image rights issues with the France national team, after the PSG forward refused to participate in a team photo and sponsor activities for the national team.
French Football Federation said it would review its agreement on players’ image rights, after the incident. Kylian Mbappe said his image rights dispute with the French Football Federation was a “collective move” to help fellow team mates.
