Kylian Mbappe and his French teammates took a night off from their Euro 2024 qualifying schedule to watch France open their Rugby World Cup campaign in style – even though it looked like he didn’t quite follow what was going on in the game.
The World Cup hosts got their tournament off to a flyer with a 27-13 win over New Zealand and were watched on by several of their fellow countrymen from the French football squad.
Spotted in the crowd was Mbappe alongside Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann and Dayot Upamecano, surrounded by happy French fans over the performance of their rugby team, with his very delayed reaction to some points scored caught on camera.
One fan wrote: “Kylian Mbappe discovers rugby, but the rules still seem vague!”
A second commented: “e raised his hands because others did,”
Another said: “He is so lost and confused.”
“Absolutely no clue what’s going one, but at least Mbappe is having a good time.”
After the game, Mbappe headed to the changing rooms to congratulate the team on the victory, along with the rest of the French squad who attended the game.
Twenty-four hours earlier the 24-year-old was part of the France team that beat Ireland 2-0 in their latest Euro 2024 qualifier, that sees Didier Deschamps on course to qualify for next summer’s finals.
