Despite Lionel Messi getting further and further away from Paris Saint-Germain and getting closer and closer to a return to Barcelona, nothing is yet 100% decided, as the Catalans should yet receive the green light from La Liga, after the recent submission of their economic viability plan, to make the transfer happen.
Earlier in the year, La Liga had made it clear that Barça must reduce €200 million from the salary mass in order to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations and to be able to sign new players in the market.
While the 35-year-old hasn’t decided on his future, the French forward Kylian Mbappe wants him to stay in Paris, according to Mundo Deportivo’s Dani Gil. Mbappe is disappointed with Messi’s potential exit and would’ve like to continue playing with the Argentine, he has even tried to convince his teammate to stay.
According to the Spanish media outlet, Mbappe feels unfinished business at PSG after crashing out in the Champions League against Bayern Munich this season.
Messi left Barcelona and joined PSG in the summer of 2021 after the club failed to renew his contract. Nearly two years later after his exit, the Argentine wants to return to Barca at all costs and has reportedly told the club to do everything in their power to make the move possible, according to Gerard Romero. Messi wants his future resolved before the end of the season, and will only only renew with PSG if the potential deal with Barcelona collapses, Gerard Romero understands.
