Manchester United have finally announced the signing of Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund. It’s now confirmed that the striker has put pen to paper on a five-year deal that will see him stay at Old Trafford until 2028 with an option to extend by an additional year.
The 20 year old was unveiled to the Old Trafford faithful on the pitch in the build up to Saturday’s match against Lens.
Having already brought in Mason Mount from Chelsea and Andre Onana from Inter, manager Erik ten Hag has now made his third signing of the summer in 20-year-old Hojlund, who scored nine Serie A goals last season.
Hojlund is hoped to be United’s long-term solution to their problem number nine position. Wout Weghorst was drafted in on loan in January while Anthony Martial remains injury-prone and unreliable.
Marcus Rashford was the Red Devils’ leading scorer last season with 30 strikes in all competitions, 17 coming in the Premier League.
United will reportedly fork out an initial €70m for the 20-year-old.
If the agreed-upon add-ons are to be achieved, the total package would rise up to an astronomical €85m.
