Kylian Mbappe has reportedly rejected Al-Hilal’s world record transfer request. The forward has refused to even enter discussions with the Saudi Arabian side, who rocked the footballing world by launching an eye-watering £259million bid for Mbappe this week.
Their proposal was accepted by the record Ligue 1 champions, who are desperate to recoup a fee from Mbappe’s potential departure after the striker refused to extend his contract further than 2024.
L’Equipe reports that Mbappe and his mother, who is also his agent, have informed a delegation from Al Hilal that they have no interest in discussing personal terms – despite the Saudi club’s willingness to make him one of the highest-paid athletes in the world – and have ‘zero interest’ in leaving Europe at this time.
The Parisians have made it clear that Mbappe will have no involvement this season should he fail to sign a new deal, which he has no intention of doing.
The forward has already been left out of the PSG squad for their pre-season tour of Japan.
PSG are of the opinion that Mbappe has a pre-existing agreement with Madrid, who hold a long-term interest in his services dating back to two years ago when they had a staggering €200m bid rejected by the French giants.
While those reports have been denied, it is believed Mbappe wants to see out his contract with PSG to join Madrid on a free transfer next year.
Mbappe is reportedly due a €60m loyalty bonus if he remains at PSG until the start of August. It is unknown whether that was a factor in his decision to turn down Al-Hilal’s offer.
Anyway, The pre-season snub was supposed to serve as a warning to Mbappe that he will be sold if he doesn’t change his stance, but the player remains calm despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.
