Wayne Rooney’s 13-year-old son Kai has joined Man United’s academy back in 2020, and in three years with United, he has taken the academy by storm and registered mind-blowing stats.
After moving up an age group to play for United’s Under-12s, Rooney Jr announced on his Instagram account that he had scored an incredible total of 56 goals for the Red Devils.
Last season, the youngster introduced himself to the world when he bagged a hat-trick and three assists in a 6-3 win against Stoke City.
On a match against Liverpool’s U12s back in October 2021 the youngster scored all four goals for United in a 5-4 loss, a story that went viral on football web.
Kai later went on to sign a sponsorship deal with Puma at just the age of 12.
84 goal contributions in his first full season
The youngster was on fire at the academy level last season as well and bagged 84 goal contributions for United’s U12s side last season, scoring 56 goals and providing 28 assists across all competitions, something even his dad must be super proud of.
This season Kai netted the winner against Manchester City in the U13 National Cup North final.
The youngster has also built up a social media following, racking up more than 110,000 followers on Instagram.
“In 10 years, hopefully, I will be playing in the Premier League for Man United,” he told reporters in June, via the Mirror.
“That’s where I see myself but I’ve got to make it happen with the hard work and everything behind the scenes.”
